new client kicked out old support company b/c of cluster migrating sbs windows 2012 standard. went add in gpos redirect documents users network folders , found lots of gpo objects missing. click on them in gpo objects list , file not found. 2 of these default domain policy , default domain controller policy. browsed sysvol directory on dc , confirmed indeed gone. i've read using dcgpofix replace them. since objects show in gpo objects list in group policy management, should delete them prior running dcgpofix or matter? tool overwrite them? can't there using gpm b/c there not default domain policy objects , fails. ideas , or thoughts? thanks how many dc's? based on description i'm guessing it's one. dcgpofix reset both of default policies , don't have delete them first.  however, might want check netlogon ensure policies folder still exists.  navigate "%systemroot%\windows\sysvol\domain\policies.  if not, recommend going through their backups

os: windows server 2008 r2 enterprise i'm attempting create new cluster using 'new-cluster" cmdlet.  i'm receiving following error. new-cluster : netbios name 'node1.test.com' in use in network. i able create 2 node cluster no problems using same pwershell script in test "vm" environment.  created private network own domain controller, san server using ms iscsi target, , 2 nodes.  worked great.  created cluster , specified node1.  used "add-clusternode" add node2. now i'm trying on our company domain.  don't have domain permissions did in test environment.  not sure if problem.  registered 2 nodes on domain, set shared volumes, ran cluster validation, did in test environment.  i'm running powershell script node1, same initial node i'm trying add cluster. the two nodes joined to the domain, expect netbios names registered well.  why checking @ point?   thanks help!!!!   i found problem!  name of cluster l

hello , thank being here. novice , having issues , not sure else try. first technet post. using chelsio cards , dell poweredge r720’s have 2 node s2d setup 1 vm on each node, non-production setup. forcing node 1 cluster service fail , seeing vm1 go unmonitored , live migrate failover node 2, stuff. can see file copy seem go ‘paused’ state complete , rdp session on vm broken temporarily when i’m forcing cluster service stopped on node ( rdp reconnect after 10-20 seconds but would not see rdp lose connection if possible , have been playing with  (get-cluster).resiliencydefaultperiod = 30   settings, additional advise there appreciated well , not sure if related issue ) . i see live migrate failover occur , ok. i’ll wait , check job running issuing ‘get-storagejob’ on both servers. when disk clean , healthy i’ll live migrate vm original node set next test, when i’m doing i’m getting errors i’m able work around unable resolve right now. live migration failover seems work

hello, i have managed guide our french , italian office's create 2 way trust , works.  france have 2003 , 2008 dc's , italy on 2003 native, job done, can both add user accounts resources each others domains. now need france , spain have 2 way trust.  spain's ad ffl 2000 native, have 2003 dc's.  2 way trust has been created , validated on both sides, france can see spains's users when attempting add them folder permissions, spain can't see france's.  when spain go add user france folder's permission, select france's domain , type users name in , not resolve name.  spain can't search. what wrong?  need raise ffl 2003?  thought 2000 native ok. thanks with regard trusts, external trusts supported 2000 native domain.  a forest trust wouldnt be.  so should ok regard trust since created.     are sure name resolution configured?  all of dcs in both domains can resolve host names in other domain? guides , tutorials, visit itgeared.com .
