server 2008r2 os.  update services 3.2.7600.226.  until few weeks ago exported cab, used api tools export preapproved updates online server.  copy patches, , import cab , xml.  started getting 0kb cab, , after doing lot of reading, figured size issue, exported .xml.gz.  export good, 200ishmb.  tried import using wsusutil import export.xml.gz import.log "fatal error: unable uncompress package" i next unzipped it, , tried importing xml , got same error.  reading through transferred file 3 times over, don't think corrupt.  using right command line?  can assist this?  thanks chris  well, suggestions.  did different fix it.  figured out think database corrupted on export server.  uninstalled role, rebooted, reinstalled , click same things wanted export.  synchronized, tried export cab again , worked fine.  import took on import wsus.  again suggestions all. chris Windows Server

we have network environment rdp/vpn multiple flavors of server 2003/2008.  each time either rdp/vpn these boxes printer redirect box pops multiple times indicating: this document sent printer document: remote desktop redirected printer... printer name time total pages this again coming @ login.  in these cases, nothing has been printed user logging in.  typically press ok or cancel through issue still there @ next log in super annoying.  can go in through local resources tab in rdp , uncheck printer option, , or go customization settings on task bar properties menu , select hide printer notifications, doesn't fix issue , prevents our end user(s) being able print on network.  in addition issue, ms onenote automatically starting during each of log in sessions via rdp/vpn.  found blog on this, know issue has been brought others, no real solution has been provided.   ideas??? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/officeitpro/thread/fdb9

hi, in our business, have application server host 1 application , has rdp services enabled allow multiple users remotely connect , launch hosted application. the server vmware (esxi 5.5 patch 9) virtual machine running windows server 2012 r2 standard. 16gb of ram , 8 vcpu. we've had server in production since may , we've seen 2 occurrences of issue far. @ 1 point, new users not able log server using rdp. users logged in can still work on server/application without issue. new users try login, input domain username , password, stay stuck @ "welcome" screen. don't disconnected, spins @ "welcome" forever. interestingly enough, you'll able see username (domain\username) on top of "welcome" text, when issue happens, shows "other user". way "fix" issue manually reset virtual machine (power off/power on). the issue happened last night , did troubleshooting before resetting server. @ first, believed rdp protocol affec

hi, i have installed couple of new hyper-v hosts in our prod. environment , have noticed odx "works" on 1 of them. config looks like: host a: hp proliant dl380e g8 / windows server 2012 datacenter host b: ibm bladecenter hs23 / windows server 2012 standard (limited # of vm's on one) storage: smb3 share on netapp filer (fas3220 - clustered ontap 8.2.1) reg key hklm\system\currentcontrolset\control\filesystem\filtersupportedfeaturesmode has same value, being 0 (=odx enabled), on 2 servers.  when copy, host a, vhdx file on smb3 share (to same share), can see odx being used (no traffic on netw. interfaces , tokens file's modified date gets updated current timestamp). when exact same operation host b (same share), can see data being transferred to/from host (and token file's modified date not being updated). besides 2 2012 servers, i've installed 2 2012r2 servers , don't appear using odx either. could tell me if there's setting in serv

hi, i posted on over windows insider forums, , have been told (instead?) post here, here goes: so - appears networking , absolutely broken in 10130 -- if want other turn pc on , have dhcp address. i had had situation discussed in detail here: https://communities.vmware.com/thread/491560?tstart=0 that - windows 10 breaks auto-bridge functionality of vmware workstation 11 (latest build). no problem, though, because work-around did work - create bridge between host-only vmware adapter , actual physical host adapter.  all works. at least did until 10130.  in 10130, bridge doesn't work @ all, , "host-only" connection seen bridge, meaning host loses internet connectivity, client. sadly, right-clicking on network adapter (including, bridge) crashes explorer.exe.  epic fail. way part-way normal use device manager delete bridge, , both adapters, device scan re-find physical adapter.  i've used vmware's virtual network manager re-create host-only a

i running windows storage server (hp branded) 2003 x64 on hp dl185 server hp smart array p800 sas/sata controller.  have 2 arrays on controller - 1 raid 1 (mirrored) , other raid 5.  both populated 500gb sata drives.  raid 5 array had removed , recreated because of multiple drive failure (one failed , not rebuild because of in pre-failure status).  replaced drives , recreated array , 1 logical drive on array.  rebooted, , used disk manager create simple partition (2 tb).  formatted partition , gave drive letter (e:).  restored data drive.  every time reboot server, drive letter goes away.  partition , data still there, have assign drive letter , re-share shared folders every time.  noticed have no admin share (e$) drive.  have checked autoshare setting in registry , entry not there (which should default creating admin share @ boot).  have idea can drive , have stay there?  in advance guidance!!! now every time reboot server, drive letter goes away. verify automount enabled

hi all, i’ve setup rds 2012 r2 environment. want grant internet users access remote apps using web access interface (no rdp client or desktop sessions, web access interface , have users launch remote apps). initially thinking of configuring firewall redirect external fqdn , port internal web access server. know can done many people recommend not doing , use rd gateway. i’ve found plenty of documentation on how setup rd gateway , configure have rdp clients access session host farm , launch remote desktop sessions not want do. want users access web access server web interface , launch remote apps. cannot find documentation on how via rd gateway server. can provide step step details?? thanks, jesmat its simple this. use gateway servers webservers too, , through server manager installe web role , gateway role on same server. need enable 443 internet server, configuration when done through server manager configure go through gateway anyway - little needs configured. gate

we running windows 2003 ad environment netapp fas2020 filer shared storage. yesterday, changed username of 1 of our employees have done many others in past. i changed name of user's home directory , changed location of home folder in 'profile' tab of object's ad properties. the issue when go view or edit security settings on user's home directory, entries stored under old username.  if remove entry , readd new username, reappears under old username.  if add folder did not have explicit access, correctly adds new username.  if view settings machine, same issue occurs. another thing note username appears in security tab "domain\oldusername" whereas other users appear "domain\oldusername ( username@domain.com ).  imagine because old username not exist , has no email address. i'm not sure if issue our netapp filer or our ad environment.  know of ntfs permissions (correct me if wrong), sid stored in filesystem netapp knows nothing of user
