hello, sorry if has been asked before.  i've tried searching forums haven't found i'm after. i'm wondering if it's possible use dns resource cname or record specify rds licensing point.  for example: we manage current rds licensing server.  we don't manage servers looking our rds lic box cals (decentralized environment), can't apply gpo them specifying licensing point. if our rds licensing server , cals set on host named "rds-lic-01," , have future plans decommission box , move "rds-lic-02," assign cname or record "rds-lic-01" name of "rdslicserv.domain.net," , tell point terminal server instances location licensing?  then, when time comes, we'd re-assign dns resource new "rds-lic-02" machine without users in other departments needing change on end, specified licensing point resolve new host name. does know if type of setup possible, or mismatch between dns name , netbios name cause issues?

hi i looking @ virtual smartcards on windows 8, , struggling enrolment.  following evaluation guide provided ms, there 1 step cannot complete part of setting certificate template on win 2003 ca server, can't force microsoft base smart card csp certificate template.  option isn't there.  have tried installing hotfix kb909520 recommended in kb article, , although can see relevant reg keys on ca, still can't access csp template. has come accross before or there solution i'm missing? regards andy hi thought update have found solution the issue tempalte set default key size of 2048, whereas csp set support 1024. once template changed 1024 csps available andy Windows Server  >  Security

hello, in our environment have 3 domains in 1 active directory forests. each domain has 2 dcs. in 1 domain want configure webapplication (ldap) query global catalog informations domain. for testing purposes tried query simple linux-ldapsearches, works fine of time. there problem. not work reliable, because ldapsearches take 1 minute. these long running queries seems the  reason makes webapplication time out. my assumption is, these long running queries appear, when dcs domain replicate (i checked times repadmin /showrepl , looks there coherence.) our windows guy cant me out, hope here have experience in field. ok use global catalog requirement? why happening? has ideas further troubleshooting? nice use gc, because if works not have use ldap-proxy this. best regards stefan hello, first - global catalog same throughout forest. means if want query gc, may query dcs in own domain or in own location.  second - have worked ldap queries on multiple occasions , have

buenas tardes, agregado mi bosque donde tenia un windows2008 r2 otro controlador de dominio windows 2012. habilite en el windows 2008 r2: winrm qc veo desde el windows 2012 los eventos del servidor windows 2008 r2, pero me aparece el siguiente error: compruebe que el servicio winrm 3.0 este instalado y en ejecucion, y que los puertos de firewall necesarios esten abiertos. como prueba deshabilite el firewall y da el mismo error, volvi tipear winrm qc en el 2008 y me da que esta habilitado. gracias gabriel. no alcanza sólo con el winrm. estoy justamente preparando una nota para el blog con ese tema, pero calculo que la podré poner recién el viernes igual te adelanto, necesitasn en el w2008-r2 con sp1 instalado, descargar e instalar: microsoft .net framework 4 (standalone installer) para la versión full windows management framework 3.0 los encuentras en el sitio de descargas de microsoft luego el "winrm qc" debes instalarlos en el orden que los puesto
