Domain Share - access from workgroup PC

hello everyone.

so have machines in workgroup (windows 2000 machines), looking dump backup image through backup service account onto share owned domain. share open full control under security settings having full control well. guest account disabled via gp on domain servers due our compliance laws. have tried making local admin account same credentials on both workgroup , domain server. can connect share domain user account being passed. whats worse, backup service runs under modifiable service account. there way add domain user account admin on local workgroup pc? meaning, can domain\bigadmin added administrator of local workgroup pc? way can think of backup using administrator account tries store share via account.

any thoughts? going drive me nuts , unfortunately not join pcs domain.

hi,

yes can use domain credentials provided workgroup clients has relevant communication dns, wins ( netbios ) , ad infra

but practice use network service account while authentication domain systems.
