my whs v1 getting long in tooth. host on 3.2ghz p4 32-bit repurposed used company pc, 9 years old. have purchased replacement hardware , ready install whs v2 (2011) when read articles on wegotserved using windows 8. confuse issue more there windows server essentials 2012. have question may me decide: will wse2012 included in technet subscription? will able upgrade beta full version? can merely copy files whs v1 onto wse2012 shares? will clients need have window 8 installed? will there update on technet upgrade windows 7 8? is wse2012 best solution home system? (i admin 14 years ago.) whs v1 is oem, , microsoft never provided support.  besides, security updates continue through july 2015.  connector installs fine on win 8.  backs win 8 , not limited 2 tb backups whs 2011 is.  can add drives storage pool.  unlike windows 2012 essentials, removal of drive storage pool easy.    sure built on server 2003r2, team built whs v1 around server 2003 did heck of better job whs 2011

i want activate office 2013 on remote computers. we have a 4 node 2008 r2 cluster using clustered shared volumes hyperv guests connected to iscsi storage clustered.  the storage 2 node sun 7410.  when failover the sun storage, the guests perform differently each time.  sometimes they pause until storage comes online, migrate to different 2008 r2 node or turn off , boot.  seems random since 2 guests i'm testing different things each time fail between sun storage heads.    what typical behavior of clustered application when its connection iscsi storage temporarily lost nodes?  is there way modify behavior? the storage drops between 2 6 pings before responds when failing between the heads.  take minute or 2 before iscsi connection comes up. before servers in cluster, guests pause 5 60 seconds until iscsi connections reconnected.  jon hi jon you may check if settings of both storage nodes identical. i think should involve storage vendor check settings. hi, i've discovered problem hyper-v "legacy network adapters" i trying setup virtual internal network access internet through nat (i've tried internet connection sharing , rras) running on host machine.  works fine in windows server 08 guest vms integration components using regular network adapter.  but, won't work ubuntu vms using legacy network adapters. i figured out problem when added legacy network adapter windows server 08 vm , tried connect internet.  same problem ubuntu vms - if try ping, resolve ip address, request times out. what different legacy network adapter in hyper-v isn't allowing internet connections behind nat work?  ideas?  how else vms on internal network connect internet? thanks, dave fyi... update last post. the change required go device manager, go properties of physical nic used create virutal external network in hyper-v, click on advanced tab , change setting ipv4 checksum offload none. no registry entries or else needed.  can toggl

hello, i saw 1 thread this, i'm kind of looking different answer.  month ago, migrated win2k3 vs2005 rs win2k8 sp2 hyper-v.  have  made sure read of documentation hyper-v understand doing.  today, though, noticed strange snapshot on test vpc have.  i practicing migrating physical server virtual server , took snapshot of vpc.  changed things, didn't , reverted snapshot.  after turned vpc on , had been using while, satisfied changes , decided rid of snapshot.  shut down machine , deleted snapshot, , after merge completed, no longer listed in hyper-v manager.  after deciding upon process wanted use p2v conversion, wanted try starting scratch new .vhd file.  when went vpc settings , looked @ section virtual hard drive, noticed message saying had snapshots couldn't edit disk.  thought pretty strange since had deleted snapshot!  confirm, looked in hyper-v manager again , there no snapshots listed.  however, when on file system, there .avhd file in snapshots directory , vpc's
