WSUS 3.0 SP2, Automatic Approval Rules Bugs

bug 1: options automatic approval not saved if "any classification" or "any products" selected. if either of these "any *" options selected, parameter not saved rule.  i.e. if close , apply rule, "any" options selected unselected.

bug 2: in automatic approval options dialog, "run rule" not approve updates exist in wsus.

setup:
clean dedicated ws2008 r2 current updates
clean install of prerequisites identified in wsus 3.0 sp2 release notes
clean install wsus 3.0 sp2 defaults.

there no errors. seems working except automatic approval.

some other related posts indicate automatic approval applies new updates during synchronization , changes rules may require few days before noticing their effect.  applying rules on synchronization , not applying rules retroactive updates understandable.  "run rule" button obsolete because can't approve retroactive updates or should (does it?) apply rule , execute synchronize process?

the current work around manually approve updates.

these "bugs" because behavior unexpected, counter intuitive, unproductive, , require work around achieve intended results.

please let know when automatic approvals fixed.

thanks

bug 1: options automatic approval not saved if "any classification" or "any products" selected.

this not bug. these invalid options automatic approval rule. cannot select option "any classification" or "any product". are, simply, text displayed on hyperlink used open dialog select actual products/classifications desired hte rule definiton.

you must specify 1 or more actual product categories if choose "product" rule , must specify 1 or more actual update classifications if choose "classification" rule. clicking on hyperlinked "any product" or "any classification", , explicitly selecting desired product categories or update classifications dialog.

if think want products/all classifications -- don't, let's save thread -- need explicitly check "all products" checkbox and/or "all classifications" checkbox in tree-view dialog. it's worthy of note "all products" , "all classifications" default selection when creating new automatic approval rule, merely clicking on hyperlink automatically engages of options.

it possible failing engage hyperlink , opening dialog may cause options remain in an  undefined state -- i'm not equipped empirically test rule designed approve allproducts/allclassfications.

if don't click on hyperlink -- how can know if rule selections saved or not? perhaps question should asking is: how did you determine options not being saved?

rather being "bug" -- consider possibility it's merely operator error new user not yet sufficiently experienced product identify qualified "bug". version of product on 2 years old; it's simple product. it's highly unlikely bugs "first discovered" haven't been discovered sometime in previous 30 months of product's existence.

bug 2: in automatic approval options dialog, "run rule" not approve updates exist in wsus.

this assuredly not true statement, have, on several occasions, used option "run rule" retroactively apply approvals synchronized updates.

the key, of course, whether there updates and/or groups matching specifications of defined rule. screen cap of automatic approvals dialog rule of concern selected useful see, along itemization of updates expected approved, , image of actual approval state.

some other related posts indicate automatic approval applies new updates during synchronization
