Need to Create Hyper-V VM as Sharepoint2010 DB Server with a D: Volume of 3TB

hello,

i in process of creating sharepoint2010 web farm consisting of hyper-v server 2008 r2 virtual web server, hyper-v server 2008 r2 virtual app server , hyper-v server 2008 r2 virtual db server--all using server 2008 datacenter r2 host server. db server needs virtual disk 3tb, in provisioning attempts i am enountering 2tb virtual disk limit. there workaround either withing hyper-v or sharepoint2010 perhaps create more 1 volume in sharepoint2010 db files stored?

thanks,

scott mcintosh

yes, you`ve hit storage limit vhd`s. support larger disk, you`ll need use pass-through disk.

please check following article: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2008/10/24/configuring-pass-through-disks-in-hyper-v.aspx

another option spread mdf/ldf files on multiple vhd`s (that best practice anyway, when comes segment databases).

regards,

kristian (virtualization , coffee: http://kristiannese.blogspot.com )
