migrating redirected documents to new file server

hello,

we in process of migrating our existing server 2003 file server server 2008 storage server.  of users 1 of our ous have documents/documents folders redirected file server.

to move these file shares can copy them on , change group policy point new server?  or change group policy first?

i'm in process of doing well. there's nifty option in gp option called "move contents of <redirected folder> new location" (see shot here - http://cl.ly/1i1v4727390z3c0d3m1x). option selected, after change location of redirected folders, next time user logs in files moved automatically new server. 

keep in mind initial login take quite time xp users cannot log in until files moved. may best move users new settings gradually, , not @ once.
