users being disconnected several times day - rds win2012r2 running on amazon/aws/ec2 service

users connect vpn remote rds server, configured without deployment wizard, installed host session service , that´s all

i´m on grace period, without licensing issues (51 days left)

users complain forced disconnections , said they´re working, actively typing or moving mouse , session gets disconnected, message appears tryingo reconnect , after time (1-3 minutes) session gets @ same point.

most users have windows 7 patched can reproduce problem using windows 10 patched too.

the server have security patches and updates local wsus , there´s no hotfixes applied

today disconnected using local account, session disconnected during 10 seconds , gets , in exact same time can see in event viewer 3 event ids: 40, 24 , 25

40 session 3 has been disconnected, reason code 0

24 remote desktop services: session has been disconnected:/session id: 3

25 remote desktop services: session reconnection succeeded:

the connections made through vpn , tunnel down, of time disconnections occur no problems in vpn

maybe edge firewall (fortios 5.2.7) dealing packets , forcing sessions closed?

personally, suspect disconnect issue caused network instability, suggest use network traffic capturing tools such network monitor perform further analysis.
