Changed WSUS Parent (Upstream) Server, computer groups no longer correct

our wsus environment consists of parent server in our administrative office , 9 replica servers in our branches. each branch has wsus computer group corresponds branch , assigned group policy. parent server died , replaced new server different name. i updated name on each of replica servers , synchronized them. reason computers no longer assigned to their groups , show unassigned. when try change group membership using wsus snap-in, change membership option remains grayed out. ideas how can these appropriate groups?

this may issue of guids. computer groups created on new upstream server have different guids groups replicated replica servers. clients, however, still reporting original groups, though replicas have "new" groups -- result groups clients reporting don't exist.

run wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow @ 1 or more clients force deletion of targeting cookie, allow clients obtain new group identification information replica servers. if resolves issue machines tested, replicate rest of machines.

note: database backups of upstream server critical component of managing replica server environment. appropriate backups, it's merely issue of reinstalling wsus, , restoring backup of previous upstream server (with existing guids intact), before allowing replica servers synchronize new upstream server.
