Changing product key of evaluation version Essentials2012 to Essentials2012R2

merry christmas everyone.       simple task have thought. :)    have small business running small server evaluation version of 2012 essentials.   have week go genuine version of essentials 2012.     purchased essentials 2012r2    , attempted add new product key , says it's not valid.   maybe it's fact r2 or running ad dc.      have backed machine cannot lose system setting , start again on this.   evaluation version of essentials has provided services need not require higher version i'd clear path description somewhere explains procedure resolve problem of getting essentials evaluation version on essentialsr2 purchased version.

can point me specific links or give me heads on process please.

there no path between 2 products.

you need reinstall server new os.

if want keep existing domain, need additional temporary server, install standard server, make additional dc, remove 2012, reinstall 2012r2 can activate , remove temporary server.
