shrinking c:\ from 2TB to 150GB

hello all, have 2012r2 vm running on hyperv 2012r2. server c:\ built on 2tb vhdx. tried shrink shrinks 700gb , need shrink 1.850.  have ideas on how this?

thanks details iworkhere. we are getting somewhere.

this confirms vm locking 2tb hence host can't shrink it.

please let me know these:

1. vhdx dynamic (vhdtype   : dynamic \ fixed) , earlier cmdlet let confirm that.

2. log inside vm, computer management-> disk management

identify volume\disk, total size of disk , size of allocated partitions sizes in total.

what expected here is, should shrink primary partition here 150gb , 1.8tb should showing as unallocated.

these read commands confirm it:

diskpart list volume select volume=g detail volume disk ### status size free dyn gpt -------- ------------- ------- ------- --- --- * disk 0 online 150 gb 1800 gb

once allow shrink vhdx host.

let me, know unallocated size inside vm volume.

regards,

satyajit
