RDS Cals? Do I need to buy?

hi,

in windows 2003 , xppro, never bought ts cals.  built in @ xppro.  our licensing server issues permanent ts cal licenses to

our workstation devices xppro.

when migrated windows 2008 r2 , windows 7 our workstation os, our w2k8r2 licensing server not issuing permanent licenses our win7 enterprise workstations.  mean rds cals no longer builtin os?  have buy rds cals , enter @ our w2k8r2 licensing server?

thanks,

windows 2000 server terminal server cals , windows nt 4.0 terminal server cals licensed on per-device basis (i.e. no per-user licensing). device accessing these versions of terminal server software required windows server cal plus terminal server cal of same version server software (e.g., windows 2000 terminal server cal connect windows 2000 terminal server). as exception rule, no terminal server cal needed if accessing device running corresponding version (or later version) of windows professional operating system (os). example, device running windows xp professional did not require terminal server cal access windows 2000 terminal server. license provision referred deskop os ‘equivalency’ because license windows professional os considered ‘equivalent’ terminal server cal purposes of allowing access ts software.

thanks

silvia
