User Configuration/Policies/Administrative Template/Desktop/Desktop/Desktop Wallpaper

i in hopes can me resolved :)

i having trouble getting desktop wallpaper work through group policy. have set policy through user configuration/policies/administrative template/desktop/desktop/desktop wallpaper. in here have supplied local path c:\windows\gj.bmp (i have given full control ofthe gj.bmp file everyone). have tried using share server path , gives me same results.

when logon test user in ou gpo applied to, wallpaper plain blue. when right-click on desktop, select properties, click desktop tab, preview shows picture. however, actual desktop not display picture.

i have tried know try. "simple", turned out not simple me. doing stupid. please shed little light on me. appreciate it.

thanks,
tony

hey tony,

replied post in thread, have put more info in post.  how did bmp everyone's c:\windows location? said earlier have being applied default domain policy, true?

state have gpo applied ou has test user in it. have user applied correctly in security filtering?, or have authenticated users or domain users in security filtering?

rest of policy being applied? desktop part not applying? i'd check slow link detection settings. have windows 2008 client side extensions loaded on xp boxes? know mundane questions, start @ bottom , work up... *smile*

i'd test way. make new group policy , set wallpaper settings. apply test user , see if applies. gpresult @ command prompt , see if policy applied or filtered out.

lastly things think when configuring gp , bmp,

there settings defined in user config\administrative templates\control panel\display\desktop themes\?  have "load specific visual style file or force windows classic" enabled?

have seen strange things when had resize image fit. systems have same size monitor , same setting? i.e. 1024x768?

can try this, resize image fit in majority of users, 800x600. push out , see if helps. check make sure wallpaper style set center , not stretch.

luck,
mike
