Upgrade windows 2003 fileserver to windows server 2012

we have windows server 2003 use fileserver. keep our software license files on there , pc's need access info pointed directory on file server. there no major application on server or web apps need worry about. can go directly windows server 2012  , please advise!

Disconnecting from a Windows Server 2012 R2 file sharing session on a Windows 7,8,10 machine
