hello,
my question is, can upgrade ny (primary site , dc) ad 2008 while other sites still function @ ad 200?
when upgrading, have run:
- adprep /forestprep which prepares forest ad ds 2008
- adprep /domainprep which prepares domain ad ds 2008
- adprep /rodcprep if planning add rodcs. also, if want avoid having failures in ncsecdesc in dcdiag tests, have run it. note prepare ad forest rodcs.
as see here, there updates made @ forest level , such changes replicated dcs.
however, can prepare root domain add of 2008 dcs , there no problem that.
if member server there no problems. if dcs depends of dfl , ffl. more here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/understanding-active-directory-functional-levels%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
