Server 2008
having issues windows server 2008. when try run consistency checks using dpm manager come failed. i have tried running check disk(chdsk), doing memory tests, doing clean boot, verified hard drives healthy, verifying anti-virus turned off , running sfc scan. the error sfc scan (scwvariables.xml corrupt) otherwise no other errors that. i tried copying file known server , re-ran sfc still throws error.
when @ event viewer has errors vss nothing specific. have done searching online , have found there possibly corrupt .dll files.
would doing system update readiness tool identify anything? wanting upgrade 2008 r2.

you try , review %systemroot%\logs\cbs\checksur.log
i'd leery of doing in-place upgrade of suspected corrupt server. better option clean install , migrate roles or application on new one.
