Question concerning the state of licenses of a Windows 2008 R2 RDS server after disolving the Domain, the DC, and the AD.

background: - several months windows 2008 r2 domain existed dc, , ad.  windows servers apart of domain.  1 of servers being windows 2008 r2 server remote desktop services loaded.  server licensed 8 user cals.  operating correctly.  since time domain has been removed, dc removed , ad removed.  left windows 2008 r2 servers in workgroup.  again, 1 being remote desktop server.

q1. can functioning per user cals (totaling 8) remain per user cals?

q2. required to switch them to 8 per device cals?

referencing: "best practices setting remote desktop licensing...." - article 2473823

in above article states under "rds host , rds licensing servers in same workgroup" "we can use per device cals in workgroup environment. so, should install per device cals on rds licensing server." ( in case both same server.

any information regarding licensing options can used on workgroup rds server appreciated.

hi,
