Using a 2nd NIC for high troughput storageserver connection on Windows2012R2 server

hi,

we have setup use physical windows 2012r2 server dedicated backupserver. server running veeam backup , replication services , has both network attached storage repository attached , local external tapestreamer. have backup our virtual mahines vmware esx hostserver.

this backupserver server has 2 gigabit nic's, , storagaserver (nas) has 2 gigabit nic's. network switch still has obsolete 100mb ports , has no free ports left.

so easiest way customer purchase new gigabit switch.  happen in time requested easier solution moment.

we therefore have connected nas second nic of backupserver creating gigibit link.

would advise configuration now. have options:

- creating second separate network segment storage server, need routing proces on backupserver (will not affect performance of troughput?)

- teaming nic's in way heavy traffic nas not affect network traffic lan. need advise..there more 1 way team nic's, waht best way ?

thank advise.

it sounds you'll need 4 nics per box, 1 pair team lan, , 1 backup backbone.

in meantime without gigabit switch, can probably run crossover between them. know that's not want hear, without gigabit switch, there's not can take advantage of high horsepower nics without right race track run them on.
