Multiple Updates Failed on Some Clients

we have 40 clients in our environment of on 600 pcs have on 20 failed updates. i've found vista , win7 if remote 1 of pcs , manually install updates window update applet seems install fine , failed count in wsus console disappears after while. there way can automate process?

with our xp clients (some of have on 50 failed updates) thing have found can stop bits , automatic updates services , delete softwaredistribution folder. problem client has re-download failed updates again , our bits download speed throttled under 10k during working hours take days, possibly weeks updates download again. , there's nothing updates won't fail again. there other way around failed updates issue in xp?

hibs ya bass!

we have our wsus server set automatically approve security , critical updates , lot of .net framework updates of these types not? suggest turning option off then?

i'm fundamentally opposed using autoapprove rules on these type of updates matter of principle.

for starters, these type of scenarios natural impact -- months , months of failed update installations nobody aware of because wsus server configured run in "automatic/unattended" mode , natural monitoring occur part of active patch management process not happen.

second of all... correctly note, .net framework updates contained within critical , security updates classifications, , there long history of installation issues when .net updates combined other os security , critical updates.

if start filtering updates approve suggest can retro-actively.

absolutely. start disabling auto-approval rule, set updates not approved. after standard client detection interval (22 hours default), wuagent have 'unscheduled' of updates installation queue. can begin re-issuing approvals based on phased-in approach.
