Excel has stopped working

i have windows 7 /office 10 several excel macro driven applications.  these have run no problems on windows xp/office xp  along time.  on w7/office 10  keep getting on several systems message "excel has stopped working" , system appears freeze.

also getting "microsoft excel waiting application complete ole action" on systems on opening.

how fix these problems?

Disconnecting from a Windows Server 2012 R2 file sharing session on a Windows 7,8,10 machine
