migrate files, shares, and users from 2003 to 2008 r2


i installing 20 new 2008 r2 file , app servers, not dcs.  want keep shares , files on old 2003 servers , export these setting 2008 servers.  keep same server names if possible, more after hours.  suggestions?

robocoby retain ntfs permission of shared folders on new server won’t keep share permission. want keep shares, have re-configure file sharing on new server.


microsoft’s best practice of migrating shares old server new server introduced in kb125996, export registry key following , import new server.

hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\lanmanserver\shares


option can think of join new windows 2008 servers existing domain , setup dfs. use fsr transfer file shares old new server. information.
