Performance Counter Names Appearing As Numbers

have problem on 1 of servers running w2k3 enterprise sp2. i'm attempting setup performance counter in performance console, of performance object names , names of counters in list appearing numbers. additionally, opening explain option not display text when counter selected. have ideas?

you have to rebuild performance counters. if server not have other applications specific counters (for example sql), must run command:

lodctr /r
