the client can resolve wsus server via dns correctly. on client can browse http://fqdnofnewwsusserver:8530/selfupdate/iuident.cab , download file successfully. can browse http://fqdnofnewwsusserver:8530/simpleauthwebservice/simpleauth.asmx , presented page of 2 hyperlinks, getauthorizationcookie , ping. can telnet server client on port 8530.
all of virtual directories under wsus administration website except apiremoting30 directory have anonymous authentication enabled using account iusr. apiremoting30 directory has windows authentication enabled using negotiate , ntlm providers.
firewalls not present or active on clients or server. know error code wsus client diag tool refers server overloaded i've checked , there plenty of resources available. i've checked wsuspool application pool started
does have other suggestions?
the client running isa server 2006 in environment. have verified accessing wsus server via ip, netbios name , lowercase fqdn name work successfully. try uppercase fqdn name ( sccm 2012 creates in registry ) client can no longer communicate wsus server. have no experience in isa server client has stated if in isa server management console he creates item in uppercase, in resulting wpad.dat file client receives, entry shown in lowercase. if has experience isa server 2006 , knows how have type of internal traffic bypass proxy server ( when client uses uppercase fqdn name ) i'm open suggestions.
the combinations of isa2006, wpad, , propensity of configmgr use fqdns kinda makes configmgr issue now. suggest inquiring in configmgr 2007 software updates forum how others might have addressed issue.
i still vote configuring gpo force url simple host name , done it. :-)
