New server not taking over all roles.

scenario:

had old server running 2008 , bought new server running 2012.  changed on new server.  not running quickbooks server, , controls users , printers.

problem:

when shut down old server printers , quick books stop communicating along network drives.  seems new server isnt taking on role of controlling ip addresses.

asking because guy isnt going able @ while figured out before available.

since migrating new server, take remapped user's printers, network shares , quickbooks client software new server?  old , new servers have different ip addresses , host names?
