Clients not downloading updates.
hi there
i've got 2 windows vista sp1 clients checked in wsus (3.0 sp1 on server 2008 sp2). report status fine, refuse download updates. upon checking each client, updates fail error code 80244018.
i've run wsus client diagnostics tool comes clean, i've run couple of batch files i've found on various sites discovered on google delete softwaredistribution folder, restart bits , wauserv services, , run wuauclt /detectnow command. none of helps in slightest.
hotfix windows update correct problem clients downloading updates installed.
ideas before pull little left of hair out?
cheers,
ryan

hi there
sorry extreme length of time since last message. i've been extremely busy windows 7 testing , haven't had time @ wsus problem.
as suggest lawrence, issue turned out not problem wsus @ all, rather iis site wsus had installed , it's virtual folders into. seems site did not have correct handler mapping settings. kepts getting 403 errors no matter tried... full control on wsus folder one.
i have reset handler mappings allow exe , dll files run , client seems downloading updates , no longer 403 errors.
it nice if server diags checked things it's hard diagnose if you're not 100% familiar iis, google (and enabling of full error messages in iis) was friend in instance :)
thanks , regards,
ryan spooner
