Windows Server 2008 R2 Core Domain Controller - Service Pack 1 install fails with 80004005 - E_FAIL

i have w2k8 r2 core dc failed service pack 1 install on weekend. have looked through cbs logs , there quite few errors i'm no expert. i'm hoping can me interpret errors. since domain controller, i'm not sure best path restoring service (rebuild/repair). ad services appear down , no longer able to remotely manage it with server manager.
