Issue with hit and miss client registration (Windows 7 and 2008).

hi guys,

i'm having issues hit , miss client registration windows 7 rtm , windows server 2008 (various sp levels - need flesh out details have available me tomorrow morning). following detail 1 of affected clients - server 2008 machine, identical of windows 7 client (in terms of error codes).

as mentioned, need log of machine has registered can compare wuau client versions, now, i'm scooting home , i'll leave extract knowledgable souls of forums. oh, before go, have done far:

renamed softwaredistribution folder (no need list complete steps),
turned off group policies configure client , verified machine download 'net (though remember, other machines same settings still work internally)
checked iis logs of wsus server see see - , answer nothing; looks client isn't trying talk it.

also, sccm 2007 running on top of it, software update component hasn't been configured yet. said, i've mentioned, clients working, don't think has bearing on issue.

anyways, provided error codes mean someone, other that, i'll stuck again in morning , update thread should new come light (assuming enlightened soul hasn't solved mystery me).

the solution particular issue seems have been configure proxy using netsh winhttp. see i'm seeing some cert validation checks i'm assuming match 4 previous failures in same location (snippet below).

so, know issue was, need sniff through group policy, i'm "reasonably" sure remember setting allowed 1 bypass such client-side checks - given it's policy here not have internet-connected servers (it have been viable solution clients, we'd still prefer avoid it).

ps: reference on off chance helps - unrelated issue, here's netsh command configure system proxy on server 2008/windows 7:

netsh winhttp set proxy proxy-server="proxy.yourcompany.com.au:9128" bypass-list="*.yourcompany.au"
bypass-list= section entirely optional, it's handy in our environment.
