_http_tcp SRV records; ??
hi all,
i couldn't find general questions regarding dns know having managed lots of active directory there's bit of dns involved. having learned quite bit dns working active directory thought might see if there's has dealt such class of record before here. feel free set me in right direction if not place start.
i wondering if there's proof or reason should believe web browsers chrome or firefox support http srv records? guy seems wanna indicate me: http://www.pantz.org/software/bind/srvdnsrecords.html
one might want assume because since guy started admin career in 1999 must true considering led me these findings fact thought have 2 records , browser try 1 , go next if there's more 1 that's not case (in chrome anyway.)
i've been told handful of people srv records "hard" , don't know building failover cluster of load balancers other way anycast addresses out of question me. i'd lucky ever # let alone gun history , not mention totally outside of budget (apparently anycast requires @ least /24.)
google groups goes on fight on whether or not should add feature people don't have ability turn on or off arbitrarily: http://www.quora.com/load-balancing/why-dont-browsers-support-srv-records-for-http
it clear me talking /the/ rfc 2782: http://www.anta.net/nic/draft-andrews-http-srv-01.shtml
and before drew many of these conclusions went on try , see if work first, intent of confirming solution afterwards. i'm left possibility of misunderstood works because found when added 2 srv records:
_http._tcp.mydomain.com. in srv 0 5 80 lb-1-1-1.mydomain.com. _http._tcp.mydomain.com. in srv 0 10 80 lb-1-1-2.mydomain.com.
that errors getting in chrome i'm related circular dependency between 2 load balancers caused redirect http https respond stopped happening. it's gotta coincidence , there's else going on , need go proverbial stfu , buy lots of ip addresses when need 2 anycast, right? i'm not sure how find out sure due level of complexity in these sorts of stacks.. i'm limited strace, rndc querylog, ethereal.. need go far find out , person doesn't think should issue?
