Licensing Office 2010 on RDS
hello,
i've setup windows 2008 r2 rds system 10 users. have correct licenses windows 2008 r2 + 10 rds cals.
i'm wondering though whether it's possible cut costs in office 2010 licenses? options or aren't there any? can install office 2010 on server , disable office users? trhough group policy example? or not legal in case licensing conditions?
or when install office on server have pay x office licenses x rds users, when x/2 rds users use office on machine.
thanks info,
j
hi,
office licensed per device (except service provider using spla). means need have office volume license each pc connect rdsh server , run office. example, have 10 pcs in business, of 10 used connect rdsh server, however, 2 out of 10 ever used run office server and/or run office locally. in example need 2 office 2010 licenses.
please note not cost savings on traditional office licensing license is installed directly on each pc. need dedicate office 2010 license each device connecting rdsh , running office, traditional scenario. office volume license required rds have home use rights, allows user limited ability connect rdsh , run office 2010 home pc without purchasing additional license. please check end user license agreement (eula) , product use rights (pur) documents specific office license purchase.
thanks.
