Application installs from a mstsc

hello,

i have seen , heard problems when installing applications exchange, sql, sharepoint etc. remote terminal session in old versions of windows 2k, 2k3 etc. still true w2k8, w2k8 r2?

i planning install exchange , sql 2010 versions on windows 2008r2 boxes , worried about installating from mstsc session. have realvnc licenses trying avoid them if could.

thanks in advance

hi,

under normal circumstances, use administrator account log on remote server, install exchange, sql server or sharepoint server, it’s no problem. unless have other specific applications installed.

if worried this, can ensure remote desktop connection upgrade latest version.

in windows server 2003, can start rdc client (mstsc.exe) /console switch remotely connect physical console session on server (also known session 0). in windows server 2008, /console switch has been deprecated. in windows server 2008, session 0 non-interactive session reserved services.

you can use new /admin switch remotely connect windows server 2008-based or r2 server administrative purposes. using server in local.
