VMware to Windows Server 2012 Hyper V v3


i have been asked provide comparative costs either  vmware upgrade vsphere 5.1 compared to a migration hyper-v. has body got experience / advice on this?

1) it's little bit incorrect compare hypervisors. need compare supporting infrastructure. it's not free esxi vs. hyper-v server, esxi essentials (with vcenter) vs. windows server 2012 + hyper-v role enabled (with vmm). same goes storage. esxi can use vsa (paid) , hyper-v may use free built-in tools. same vm backup you'll need (paid 1 within vmware vs. free hyper-v replica) etc etc etc

2) v2v convertors can use tons of free tools. 1 example:

3) hyper-v run on wider circle of hardware compared esxi.
