One Virtual Machine GREAT!!! 2nd is "Failed to Initialize".


hello all,

here's problem. running hyper-v on server 2k8 (not r2 has updates). 4 nic dell server 16gb of ram. 2 virtual machines, 1 server 2k3 x32 , other xp x32.

xp running library database public school. running 2 months without incident. shut down server relocate it's new home. when booted up, 1st vmachine loaded without problem, 2nd xp vmachine gave "<name of vmachine> failed initialize.". no other hints can see.

any ideas on figuring out it's failing or why? event viewer states "failed set/change partition properly" , "0xc035001d". however, partition never modified, , lives in folder hierarchy next 1st vm.

solution found: odd though. 

come find out, had assigned 4 cores both vmachines. when first booted, didn't have enough processor resources allow second. turned them both down 2 cores each, , both booted. don't know why stated partition changed.?

oh well. i'll keep post alive in case helps else.
