resolution error code: 0x80070002

to resolve issue, rename download folder. rename windows update temporary download folder, follow steps appropriate operating system.

important updates downloaded have not yet been installed must downloaded again using windows update or microsoft update.

for windows 2000, windows xp, , windows server 2003, follow these steps:

  1. click start, click run, type notepad, , click ok, or press enter.
  2. copy following commands, , paste them opened notepad window: 
    net stop wuauserv cd %systemroot%\softwaredistribution ren download download.old net start wuauserv
  3. on file menu, click save as, , type rename.bat.
  4. click save type, , select all files.
  5. save rename.bat file desktop.
  6. double-click rename.bat file register windows update files.
  7. try install updates again.
notes
  • if issue resolved, delete rename.bat file created.
  • when issue resolved, , can download , install updates, can safely delete download.old folder recover disk space.

Disconnecting from a Windows Server 2012 R2 file sharing session on a Windows 7,8,10 machine
