Windows 2008 x86 and guidance on KB947245

i have been using mdt deploy x64 oses time without error.  tried set 2008 x86 deployment having trouble images post-sysprep.  image boots, error "the system registry contains invalid file paths. installation cannot proceed"

it same kind of issue poster looking with:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/9fc83cf2-4834-464e-8d6b-ed8a52037079/sysprep-fails-on-a-2008-server-after-os-installed-and-changes-made

and addressed in kb:

i've read post , article still can't figure out should here.

more info:

normally when i'm creating reference image choose task install install.wim, run sysprep, save image share.  once got error, tried deploying install.wim see if resolve problem.  noticed disk0 (the book disk) has 2 partitions , each given drive letters.  c labeled osdisk , d labeled system. when run bcdedit see bootmgr partition , device entry points partition=d:\ (instead of partition=\device\harddiskvolume1).

so on right track?  problem?  if so, how fix it?

thanks,

jeffrey

i know

hi jeffrey,

system still boot see error.

please try following steps see if fixed:

1) as per steps taking, there 2 partitions created.
a. please check if 1 "system reserve volume" , other system volume. first volume drive s:, , second volume drive c:
2) check if drive c marked active. if so, mark first partition active (drive s:)
3) make sure have boot files in place on s: . copy bootmgr s:
a. go start > programs > locate command prompt, right click command prompt , select run administrator
b. at command prompt window switch c:\boot folder
c. now type bcdedit /export c:\boot\bcd.bak
d. now copy boot folder s:. during copy might error cannot copy bcd, can ignore message since have got backup in bcd.bak file
e. rename bcd.bak file on s:\boot folder bcd
