Strange usage of disk storage by Storage pool - Server 2012

hi,

i'm trying migrate old data (2×2tb disks, both 99% full) new server running server 2012 datacentre.

the server had @ first 3×3tb disk + system disk. have created storage pool on 3 , 2 different volumes:

  • parity array 3,62tb (due plan istall old 2 disks later); let's call raid5
  • mirror array 931gb; let's call raid1
  • 935gb left free

then copied data hard drives raid5 , added 1 of 2tb disks storage pool, unable extend raid5. figured out raid0 may problem, deleted volume , let extend raid5 6,3tb (that's storage pools section of server manager reports). that's first strange thing, it's supposed 1,81tb*3, 5,43tb... second thing windows explorer reports size of raid 5 5,4tb, more likely, why different reporting? , there list of used capacity, stranger:

  • 2,71tb/2,73tb
  • 2,71tb/2,73tb
  • 2,71tb/2,73tb
  • 1,32tb/1,82tb
  • (2,71tb varies 4gb)

because need storage sorted decided take risk , install second 2tb drive. have, there absolutely no effect on raid5. i'm allowed create new volume on it, not extend raid 5.

now i'm confused. wonder if there's way resort data on disks or other way of solving issue. try recreate pool, 2tb disk installed i'm 2tb short on storage, can't remove data raid5. other problem i'd need @ least 4 days it, if manage borrow 2tb hard disk. , if possible scenario, how should create volumes in order achieve want resources (3×3tb + 2×2tb , 4tb of data).

do have experience in that? can me? if yes, please leave answer!

thank in advance!
