Windows Server 2008 R2 installation files pointing to the wrong directory.


hello, trying install sql express , few other programs on our server. each time try install 1 of files point top level of d: drive, rather c: drive system variables , currentversion registry entry pointing.

i cannot life of me figure out forcing install point. advice appreciated.

please make sure following registry have been configured properly:

  • hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion
  • hkey_local_machine\software\wow6432node\microsoft\windows\currentversion

by default, should looks like:

besides, have changed default installation folder before? there third-party software installed in server? if possible, please try perform clear boot.
