Storage Tiering not automatically tiering


hello

we have setup server 2012 r2 server storage space consisting of hard drive , ssd. have setup storage tiering (when open virtual disk says storage tiers enabled , there capacity under ssd).

when run powershell command "get-filestoragetier" no files listed. if manually pin file ssd  storage tier , run get-filestoragetier shows file pinned.

should files automatically tiered show when running get-filestoragetier? there way interrogate files on tier?

the storage space has large number of hyper-v vms on hot files (they online).

as media store isos. 

i think expect parts of vms on hot tier , isos , other parts of vms on cold tier

right! try ps-ing get-scheduledtask see have optimization process being non run reason. set of ps script samples here:
