Installing Windows Feature - restart pending

i'm trying install windows feature server 2012 r2.

it succesful on 4 servers, 2 servers remaining won't install feature.
i've tried via powershell , running gui wizard add roles.

but fails error restart pending (dismapi_error__failed_reboot_required)
i've check numberous forums , check kind of registry settings, pendingfilerename 1 isn't in registry. check pending.xml file, cannot rename (only system account) , found blog post somewhere not recommended change file.

also ran sfc /scannow , dism command restorehealth parameters (these commands report in logfiles there reboot pending...). no luck far.

any idea how proceed?

the feature i'm trying install search-service (which listed available) on 2 remaining rd sh servers don't think feature or role of server important @ problem.


just managed install wanted feature on 1 of servers.

started cmd elevated permissions

in c:\windows run: lodctrl /r
if error go c:\windows\syswow64 , run same command.

when succelful run: winmgmt /resyncperf

restarted server , able install.

so seems performance counters not started or corrupt , somehow generating pending restart issue.on other server need wait untill tomorrow.

did same thing on other server worked again:

lodctr /r in c:\windows (if fails run in c:\windows\syswow64)

winmgmt /resyncperf

restart server

Disconnecting from a Windows Server 2012 R2 file sharing session on a Windows 7,8,10 machine

Event ID 64,77,1008 Certificates Events Windows Server 2008, 2008R2
