Renaming a domain, Exchange 2003 and Win2008 DC

hi, in process of renaming single domain/single forest. it's single domain 1 site, , have 2 exchange 2003 servers. have 3 win2k3 servers dc , hiring actual renaming process. however, intend install new win2008 dc's , replace old win2k3 dc's.

i wonder if can introduce win2008 dc's before renaming or if should wait until renaming done. or maybe easier if dc's running win2008 ?

i prefer renaming, if must done, within server 2003 / exchange 2003 environment. 2008 supports domain rename not sure impact within exchange 2003. exchange 2003 on windows 2008 not work.
