Link a GPO to a Security Group

hi,

im having issue whereby gpo object created not applying target computer in our lab.

here details.

ad server: win 2008 sp2
client: notebook1 running on win xp sp3

1. created gpo name "allow file , printer sharing"

2. created security group name "group - allow file , printer sharing"

3. under gpo scope --> security filtering, added group name "group - allow file , printer sharing" it

4. computer name notebook1 has been added group name "group - allow file , printer sharing"

5. ran gpupdate /force on notebook1 , view gpresult, shows that:

the computer part of following security groups:
group - allow file , printer sharing

i have verified gpo working if add/link directly ou notebook1 belongs, fail if assign directly security group.

what can wrong here...?

thanks in advanced!

hi packie,

gpos can linked users , computers, can apply gpos security group using process have followed. i'm guessing problem gpo must linked ou containing notebook1 computer object , configuration work configured.

note configuration valid gpo containing computer settings (under computer configuration section). if configure user settings, linked ou , delegated security groups contain user objects instead of computer objects.

if you're still having issues, please post results of gpresult /r on notebook1.

thanks,

guy
