Guest OS Legacy Network Issue
here's did:
i did p2v vmware , cleaned virtual guest os (removed hp programs, dl380 g3). once done verified worked correctly , installed vmware tools , did. network fine went smoothly.
i uninstalled vmware tools , did v2v convert vmware hyper-v , successful. made sure legacy network adapter added in hyper v , booted vm , installed integration services. works fine except network problem, have idea why won't install properly?
based on research, found these error messages might indicate device not installed , seized system, or registry keys corrupted, or system files corrupted.
sysprep may of help. if have backup, try restoring it. or, can try last known configuration.
if possible, please try following 2 methods see if can help?
method 1.
========
follow steps listed in workaround of following article see if unconnected nic exists. also, try booting safe mode , these steps again see if can delete nics there (including hidden or unconnected nics).
device manager not display devices not connected windows xp-based computer:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539
method 2.
======
remove existing virtual network adapter form vm, , add new one. see if problem remains. can try synthetic network adapter see how goes.
method 3.
========
important note that, before trying following steps, registry first can restore when encountering problems.
1. open registry editor.
2. locate "hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\enum\pci\ven_1011&dev_0009&subsys_21140a00&rev_20" (this key stands relevant device), see if key exist , if contains subkeys named "2&ebb567f&0&50". click subkey, , in right pane, double-click driver , note down value, "{guid\0007}". see if can delete subkey "2&ebb567f&0&50".
3. locate " hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\class", find key relating {guid} (this key stands relevant device driver) noted in step 2, , locate relevant subkey. try deleting subkey
you may cannot delete above 2 registry keys. can try step 4.
4. locate "hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\network". in right pane, delete config. reboot guest os see if can uninstall device time.
if above steps cannot help, should restore registry. , may need reinstall guest os, mentioned previously, there might system files or registry corruptions during moving procedure.
good luck.
best regards,
chang yin
