Server 2012 R2 -- Prevent Automatic Registration of A Records by DC\DNS Server?

hi there,

in previous versions of windows server, have been able repress dynamic registration of dns records dc\dns server.  there's long story behind this, general gist actual ip goes dns server needs static record natted ip.

i can create static record without issue, , flows need to.  however, local ip on server continues register additional record, going cause inconsistency in lookups, depending on address returned.

i have tried following:

disable dns registration on nic(duh)

remove ip in question "ip address" value server on name servers tab(it returns)

various registry parameters brought hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\netlogon , \dns...still registers , shows up, particularly when restart dns server service.

i"ve come across number of cases people able accomplish i'm trying in earlier versions of windows server, whatever reason, server 2012 r2 giving me kinds of trouble this.

any ideas?

if can access windows dns servers, execute following powershell cmdlet:

set-dnsserverprimaryzone -name <zonename> -dynamicupdate "none"

this should disable dynamic updates on zone
