Upstream "store updates locally" Downstream "Do not store update files locally"

upstream "store updates locally" downstream "do not store update files locally, computers install microsft update"

is valid configuration?

it best configuration me found:

"if have multiple wsus servers chained in hierarchy, entire hierarchy must use same update storage option or else synchronizations fail. example, if upstream wsus server stores content locally, downstream wsus servers must store content locally. check each wsus server in chain uses same update storage option."

i set upstream stores updates locally , downstream not locally , sychronization looks ok. have other problems clients not yet reported in downstream server thats why im asking above configuration valid.

the highlighted statement true wsus 2.0, not true wsus3.0sp2 , later.

wsus3.0sp2:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939812(v=ws.10).aspx#updatestorage

you can select different update storage solution each wsus server deploy.

don [doesn't work msft, , they're glad ;]
